why what we do
is so important
Because teens lack a fully developed pre-frontal cortex, they can be emotional and impulsive, and lack some degree of emotional intelligence. Teens today are faced with a different kind of childhood trauma but are taught very little if any coping skills. Bullying in school has led to an increased teen suicide rate, the addiction to validation from strangers has led to a decrease in self-confidence, and decreased one-to-one interpersonal communication has led to increased teen violence and mental health issues.

We work to ensure that teenagers & young adults know how to adequately practice social awareness skills on and offline. Teaching young adults skills such as active listening, self-awareness and empathy can equip them to succeed both academically and socially. Part of being emotionally intelligent is the ability to be conscious or present with your emotions, and this requires a certain degree of awareness.
